Colorado Helicopter Charter

Helicopters are one of the aircraft categories Private Jets Colorado can look into for a trip, alongside the fixed-wing aircraft we arrange to and from Colorado. The types listed here seat 4 to 8 passengers, with published ranges from 324 to 500 nautical miles. Which one suits your trip depends on the passenger count, the baggage, the distance and the airports at both ends.

Typical Aircraft

The types listed here in this category are Agusta A109, Bell 407, Bell JetRanger, Bell LongRanger, Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) and Sikorsky S-76.

When a Helicopter Fits a Colorado Trip

Whether a helicopter suits a Colorado trip depends on the route, the weather and the terrain, and on what operators can offer for that route on your date. Tell us where you are starting and where you need to be, and your advisor will tell you whether a helicopter is a realistic option or whether a fixed-wing aircraft or ground transportation would serve you better.

Cabin size, baggage space and range vary across these 6 types, so send us the details and we will narrow the list down for you.

Thin air and summer heat reduce how an aircraft performs, so whether a particular aircraft can use a particular airport on your date is the operator’s call for that aircraft, its weight and the day’s conditions, and your advisor will confirm it before anything is booked.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Colorado-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Every Colorado airport sits at high elevation, and the right one depends on where you are going once you land. Around Denver, Centennial and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan are the usual choices for a private flight, but Centennial limits aircraft to 70,000 lb maximum takeoff weight, so the largest jets use Denver International. In the mountains, Eagle County serves Vail and Beaver Creek, Yampa Valley Regional in Hayden serves Steamboat, and Telluride has a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Aspen limits aircraft to a 95 ft wingspan, and its airport will close to all aircraft from April 4th to November 19th, 2027 for runway reconstruction. Winter brings de-icing, summer thunderstorms can hold departures at Denver, and customs is available at Denver International, Colorado Springs, Centennial, Rocky Mountain Metropolitan and Eagle County.
