Private Jets Colorado can search for an aircraft that allows smoking on flights to or from Colorado, though it helps to know at the outset how few charter aircraft still permit it.
Not every aircraft allows smoking
Smoking on board is the operator’s and the aircraft owner’s decision. A handful of operators allow it on certain aircraft, some only with the owner’s agreement for that particular trip, and many do not allow it at all. That means it can sometimes be arranged, but not on short notice and not on every aircraft we would otherwise suggest.
Please raise it before we quote
If you would like to smoke on board, please let us know before we start quoting your trip. We will then look only at aircraft whose operators accept it. If it comes up after the quote, we may have to start the search again, and over the holidays or a busy ski weekend the aircraft you wanted could be gone by then.
Tell us what you plan to smoke as well. Operators treat cigarettes, cigars and pipes differently, and some have a separate policy for electronic cigarettes.
If you prefer a smoke-free cabin
No special arrangement is needed, since that is the normal setup. If you or another passenger is sensitive to tobacco or smoke, mention it when you book, and your advisor will take it into account when comparing aircraft. You can read more about planning the details of a flight in our FAQs.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Colorado-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Every Colorado airport sits at high elevation, and the right one depends on where you are going once you land. Around Denver, Centennial and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan are the usual choices for a private flight, but Centennial limits aircraft to 70,000 lb maximum takeoff weight, so the largest jets use Denver International. In the mountains, Eagle County serves Vail and Beaver Creek, Yampa Valley Regional in Hayden serves Steamboat, and Telluride has a curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Aspen limits aircraft to a 95 ft wingspan, and its airport will close to all aircraft from April 4th to November 19th, 2027 for runway reconstruction. Thin air and heat change how much runway an aircraft needs, and that is the operator’s call on the day. Winter brings de-icing, summer thunderstorms can hold departures at Denver, and customs is available at Denver International, Colorado Springs, Centennial, Rocky Mountain Metropolitan and Eagle County.
